Cafe 611 is like a hidden jewel for live performances in downtown Frederick. It is located on the far north end of town between 6th & 7th St. You can't tell from the outside, but inside there is a HUGE stage (compared to anything else downtown) dance floor, bars, outside patio and tons of room to spread out. This is where Colin and Cheezer began doing live painting on the side stage next to the bands that perform on the main stage.

Live Painting

Colin and Cheezer have been very active in downtown Frederick's art scene for the past few years, and since October of 2009, have started painting LIVE at Cafe 611. They bring their art supplies with a blank canvas, and by the end of the show the very same night have a completed work. One of the coolest things about their live painting is when they paint backdrops for the bands that play. The very first time they did this, Colin and Cheezer set up a white bedsheet/banner, and painted a "The Handsome Creatures" backdrop for The Handsome Creatures. After the show was over, The Handsome Creatures had a portable banner with their name and logo/art that they could fold up, and hang behind their band for upcoming shows. Colin and Cheezer look forward to working with more bands, comedians, and entertainers in the future to collaborate on banner ideas at upcoming shows.

Very first live painting, done at the Halloween show of 2009. This one kinda set the tone for a lot of monster inspired works.

Awesome banner for DJ Two Teks when he performed for a full houses at Cafe 611. Zack Cutler helped with this one too.

BATTLE PAINTINGS!! Colin vs Cheezer in who's character painting would win in an Ultimate Fighting Championship. We both came up with character ideas, painted them right there at the show, then afterward we debated on which character would beat the other. We decided that Colin's demented psychopath on the left would outwit the giant brute I painted on the right. We got a great response from the crowd, many came up and liked to speculate about the outcome of a battle between the two.
