The Bizarre Bazaar
Art Show by Colin Smallwood and Tom Kemp
Colin Smallwood and Tom Kemp have been LIVE painting in Downtown Frederick from October of 2009 - April of 2010, and collected an impressively whimsical, ecclectic portfolio of artwork. About twice a month Colin and Tom would set up a blank canvas next to live bands and DJs, and would start and finish these paintings during the 3 hours while the musicians were playing on the main stage. Those paintings, along with a slew of other artwork from them, and other downtown artists such as Shane Acuff were on display in Cafe Nola from June 5th through June 13th. Much thanks to Dave Snyder, owner of Cafe Nola, for letting us have our show there during Fredreick's Festival of the Arts in downtown Frederick. Other local busineses lent a hand in creating the Bizarre Bazaar too. The Shower Door Experts in Jefferson MD is designed an amazingly awesome glass table and Gus's Tattoo Studio had work on display as well.
Along with awesome artwork, we had great musical guests to rock the place on Friday and Saturday night. Friday was the Bang Bang DJ dance party, and on Saturday we had Old Liners and DJ Synapsis. Check below to see pics of the artwork and decor for the show.
